The singer on the other hand was wonderful and had a beautiful voice. My expectation was there would be some mellow jazz playing while we were eating, I suppose the singer had to provide some entertainment on one of the other decks while the piano played upstairs. All in all an okay experience but the photo ads and descriptions are playing it up a bit. Again best part of the voyage was the view.
Introducing an incredible way to cruise in style with the STAR’s signature experience, the Nova Five Star Sunset Dinner & Show cruise. Other passengers also looked to be having a great time. The best part of the cruise was the opportunity to see the waikiki beach from the water.
If you want to take a break from the walking, shopping, and hotel hustle and bustle around Waikiki I suggest a sunset dinner cruise on the Star of Honolulu. The service was excellent throughout the evening and the whole experience exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend the Nova Room experience on the forth deck of the Star of Honolulu. It’s unforgettable from every vantage including the STAR’s 60-foot high observation deck. Choose any dinner cruise on Friday to enjoy this exclusive offer.

Enjoy a delicious 5-course dinner featuring a light salad, Maine Lobster, Prime Tenderloin of Beef Dinner, and a freshly baked dessert. On Fridays, take an opportunity to watch the spectacular Waikiki fireworks.
The weathe...r cooperated and we also had a beautiful sunset. All of the food was picture perfect and tasty but smaller portions than I expected and it was certainly the smallest maine lobster I have ever seen. The upstairs on the ship was set up like a very nice restaurant, white tablecloths and the wait staff were in black suits - very fancy. The wait staff was polite and as professional as could be but as far as I could tell there was only one waiter for the entire top section this made getting drinks a bit slow. The jazz music was mostly just piano and was too loud for the room the piano had a microphone set up and it seems like it could have been turned down a notch. I shouldn't have to strain to hear the person I'm eating with who it just across the table, the couple next to us made the same comment about the volume.
For a memorable special occasion, elevate your cruise by adding our “Celebration Plan.” You’ll enjoy a private window table and a souvenir memory photo in Star of Honolulu album per two persons. Available on Nova Five Star, Three Star and Star dinner cruises. Add “Celebration Plan” to your reservation upon checkout.
Joining these groups not only allows for arranging meet-ups but also serves as a platform for sharing tips, excursions plans, and maybe even finding a cabin mate to avoid single supplements. It’s a resourceful way to maximize your cruise experience, ensuring that from day one, you’re part of a community looking to make the most out of their Carnival cruise adventure. Daily activities will keep you entertained while onboard, while organised excursions or solo trips let you see a magnificent range of towns and cities at your leisure. Solo-specific events mean that meeting other travellers is as easy as sitting down to dinner, while you’ll have a comfortable solo cabin to come back to at the end of each day. Choose the right cruise and you’ll get all of this while avoiding the common ‘singles surcharge’. On board, Tauck directors and cruise directors take special care of solo travelers, and communal tables at mealtime make it easy to meet other travelers.
Virgin Voyages Singles Cruises
Unfortunately, there’s no single supplement, but there are also no additional fees; I paid the listed price, which was a welcome departure from other cruise lines and their many hidden fees. The lines that operate small ships are also more prone to offering discounts for solo travelers, which results in a higher percentage of individual cruisers onboard. That said, for the most part, the lines operating bigger ships are offering the most dedicated solo cabins. They also offer more onboard activities, from Broadway shows to rock-climbing walls, that you don't need companions to enjoy. River cruising in general is ideal for solo travelers, and other river lines also waive or significantly lower single supplement charges.
Affordable Cruise Lines for Singles
It’s no secret that libidos increase when away on a fun cruising vacation. The best option would be chartered singles cruises, as almost everyone onboard will at least be single. Carnival cruise lines do not offer single cabins on any of the ships in the fleet. As well as families and couples, there will be singles who are traveling in groups with their friends as well as solo travelers.
Best Cruises for Singles Over 40
Read on for more information on Royal Caribbean cruises for singles and who they are best suited to. If a cruise is your preferred getaway, here are the best cruises for singles over 40. Every single person deserves to have a good time without an expensive cabin price or package. When booking any room with Celebrity Millennium, the interior design places guests away from the rest of the world with private rooms. The Queen Mary focuses on freedom and relaxation for a cruise ship experience like no other.
The Nieuw Amsterdam is also filled with activities ideal for solo travelers looking to make memories with new people. Although there are no single cabins, this cruise line can still entertain single travelers. Dining on a cruise ship can be a delightful experience, and for singles over 50, there are plenty of options to make meals enjoyable and social.
For singles Arcadia and Aurora are both adult-only ships, so might be better options than the more family-orientated ships, which will have kids onboard, especially during the school holidays. Each ship hosts solo traveler mixers, cocktail parties, games, and other social events early on in the voyage. Chartered singles cruises tend to be more popular with slightly older people who are over 30. For a general singles cruise option, look for a hosted cruise led by a tour company. Vacations To Go offers a variety of itineraries throughout the year for the 40-and-up crowd. Check other tour operators such as Singles Cruise, G Adventures, Peregrine Adventures or smarTours (which offers women-only cruises) for additional options.

As on dry land, activities are often the best way to meet people on a cruise. If water sports are your thing, book a tropical cruise with a schedule of shore excursions that involve snorkeling, surfing, scuba diving and similar activities. Choose tours focused on wildlife watching, historical sites or food and beverage to meet shipmates who enjoy the same. Start humming the theme song to "The Love Boat" because we're going to do a deep dive into how to find the perfect singles cruises to book if you want to meet people. Even though agents can sometimes help you find the best singles cruise deals, they have little incentive for doing so.

Nevertheless, the focus is on European river cruises, with plenty of packages to the Rhine, Rhone, Seine, Douro and Danube on offer. Packages include return flights, airport transfers and all meals onboard, with an extensive range of excursions and activities including guided tours and on-board folk music shows. Dining arrangements, onboard activities and port tours make meeting like-minded people easy.
If you enjoy solo traveling without sharing a room, then we’d recommend the Rhine, Strasbourg & Heidelberg River Cruise for Solo Travelers. This eight-day cruise starts at $2,449 per person and features eight guided tours, a live classical quartet recital, daily meals, and five-star services. For this particular cruise, you’ll embark in Cologne and visit destinations like the Rhine Gorge and the historic Mainz port. Plus, there are departures aimed at solo travelers specifically, which start at $2,749 per person.
On smaller vessels, the tour company might charter the entire ship, so every passenger is single. Cunard's Centenary World Voyages is even longer, at 117 nights aboard the Queen Mary 2. The cruise includes two transatlantic crossings and stops across Asia, South Africa, and Australia, departing and arriving in New York City. On a cruise this long, even the shiest solo traveler is bound to make a few friends. All guests ages 12 and up must be fully vaccinated against COVID days prior to travel.
If you’re a senior who enjoys solo travel and meeting new people, you might want to book a singles cruise. These adventures can be a great way for older adults to enjoy traveling alone at surprisingly affordable prices. Beyond singles cruises, you can also look into general cruise lines that cater to the older set. Virgin Voyages offers adult-only cruises packed with a huge range of activities, from morning yoga classes to evening cabaret.
The ships are small enough that you can easily meet your fellow travelers, and the excursions make it easy to share experiences with other singles on board. Usually, MSC Cruises are geared towards 2 or more passengers with additional costs for singles. But, the cruise line generally has sales specifically for solo travelers or single people when booking a vacation. In addition, the Queen Mary 2 offers several different staterooms coated in royalty for solo travelers and families even though it’s one of the older ships. In addition, the cabins of this cruise line offer contemporary rooms with balcony and non-balcony views. The line's biggest and newest ships, Koningsdam, Nieuw Statendam and Rotterdam, offer 12 solo cabins.
These cruises “can be reserved by someone cruising alone without the usual single supplement fee”, and they cover an extensive range of destinations, from Europe to the Caribbean and Singapore to Australia. Visit the maitre d' on the first day of your cruise to ensure you are seated at the same table or group of tables with other singles for dinner in the main dining room. Dance classes, trivia games and port tours also put you in the right place at the right time to strike up conversations with others looking to make new connections.

There are dozens of cruises dedicated to fans of specific bands or musical genres, TV shows, beer, running, ghost hunting and more. While this ship offers a relaxing getaway, the highlight of the cruise ship is the Observation Lounge which grants passengers breathtaking views of glacier-like landscapes or turquoise waters. Known as one of the best cruise lines for onboard entertainment, expect several dazzling nights with magicians and Broadway-style productions. This ship also features live auctions with ship-wide public art displays.
The Southeastern Caribbean Isles package will take you on a roundtrip from Puerto Rico, stopping in Guadeloupe, Barbados, St Lucia and Antigua. Having sailed in one of Norwegian's cabins for one, I can confidently declare them among the coolest solo digs at sea. I particularly love the futuristic "Jetsons"-like design and the multicolored mood lighting.
At a press briefing Saturday, Hagari said Israel has been trying to stop Hezbollah's “supply chain of ammunition and missiles,” which he alleged were being smuggled from Iran to Syria and then to Lebanon. The strike is a part of the US military's effort to deter the Houthis from further disrupting the global shipping lanes in the Red Sea. Just as some of the Houthi missiles appear to have fallen short of their marks due to the relatively long distance between Yemen and Israel, it could also be potentially costly and complicated for Israel to respond with sustained aerial strikes. Tzachi Hanegbi, the Israeli national security adviser, said the Houthi attacks were “intolerable” but declined to elaborate on what exactly an Israeli response might look like.

US Navy destroyer in Red Sea shoots down cruise missiles potentially headed toward Israel: Pentagon.
The Houthi movement in Yemen shot down a United States drone on Wednesday night, more than a week after effectively declaring war on Israel, raising fears of a regional escalation. Though the Biden administration and its allies have tried to calm tensions in the Middle East for weeks and prevent any wider conflict, the strikes in the Red Sea threaten to ignite one. The Houthis have yet to acknowledge how severe the damage was from the strikes, which they said killed five of their troops and wounded six others.
February 3, 2024 Israel-Hamas war
The involvement of these parties has protracted the fighting and prompted a major humanitarian crisis. The influx of foreign involvement has also evolved the conflict into a modern war, one that may portend aspects of future wars. The deployment of the missile boats could also indicate that Israel may be concerned about the possibility of Houthi attacks on Israeli ships passing through the Red Sea. The Israeli military said last week it has deployed missile boats in the Red Sea as reinforcements.

Yemen’s Houthis claim missile attack on Norwegian ship Strinda.
Acknowledging Friday’s assault as a direct attack on a U.S. warship is important, said Brad Bowman, a senior director at the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies. The U.S. and allies had also held off for weeks on striking Houthi weapons sites in Yemen, but they are now taking regular action, often destroying launch sites that are armed but have not fired, and are deemed an imminent threat. The CSIS Missile Defense Project’s monthly newsletter has info on the project’s latest publications, events, and missile defense news. Ian Williams was a fellow with the CSIS International Security Program and deputy director of the Missile Defense Project, specializing in missile defense and strategic forces, missile proliferation, and deterrence.
Yemen’s Houthis heading to Riyadh for ceasefire talks with Saudi Arabia
“These strikes were in response to attempted missile attacks in recent days against USS Mason and other vessels in the Red Sea and Bab el Mandeb,” Cook said. The Carney's defense actions came just a day after three separate drone attacks targeted U.S. air bases in Iraq and Syria. The US and the United Kingdom have conducted strikes on Houthi targets in Yemen from air and surface platforms — including F/A-18s — on over 30 targets across 13 locations, according to officials. Shapps also said the strikes were "not an escalation," adding that they have "already successfully targeted launchers and storage sites involved in Houthi attacks" on ships in the Red Sea. Since the airstrike campaign began, the rebels now say they’ll target American and British ships as well. The Houthis’ now direct attacks on U.S. warships are the most aggressive escalation of its campaign in the Red Sea since the Israel-Hamas war broke out.
In a separate joint statement with the US-led coalition, the UK said that Houthi attacks constituted “an international challenge” and issued a warning to Houthi leadership. US forces determined the cruise missile presented an "imminent threat" to US Navy ships and other vessels in the region. Saudi Arabia, which supports the Yemeni government-in-exile that the Houthis are fighting, sought to distance itself from the attacks on Houthi sites as it tries to maintain a delicate detente with Iran and a cease-fire it has in Yemen. The Saudi-led, U.S.-backed war in Yemen that began in 2015 has killed more than 150,000 people, including fighters and civilians, and created one of the world’s worst humanitarian disasters. Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on Tuesday it had tracked a "suspicious aerial target" which it confirmed was a cruise missile, The Times of Israel reported. Prior to the attack on Monday, all of the missiles Houthis have launched were intercepted by American coalition forces, the IDF or neighboring countries like Jordan, according to WION.
Last week, Houthi leader Abdel-Malek al-Houthi was quoted as saying that if the U.S. directly intervened in the Gaza conflict his group would respond by firing drones and missiles, and take other military options. The preliminary U.S. assessment was that the USS Carney was not the target of any of the Houthi missiles or drones, according to multiple U.S. officials. There are several actions that could trigger this block including submitting a certain word or phrase, a SQL command or malformed data. "These actions are taken to protect freedom of navigation and make international waters safer and more secure for U.S. Navy and merchant vessels," CENTCOM said in a statement. In an effort to stop the attacks, the US and the United Kingdom have carried out a series of strikes against Houthi targets. The Israeli Defense Forces also confirmed Tuesday it tracked a “suspicious aerial target,” which it later confirmed was a cruise missile, according to the Times of Israel.
Navy may have to position more ships in the Red Sea if the U.S. commits to protecting Israel from a southern attack said Steve Ganyard, an ABC News contributor and a former Pentagon official. The missiles fired by the Houthis were engaged by SM2 missiles carried aboard the USS Carney, a U.S. official told ABC News. No information was released about what weapons platform aboard the Carney brought down the 8 drones.
One such aspect has been the extensive use of ballistic missiles, far more than any other conflict in recent history. With the assistance of Iran, Yemen’s Houthi rebels have fired hundreds of ballistic missiles to strike Arab coalition bases, population centers, and infrastructure. They have used armed unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to harass and assassinate coalition forces and attack economic targets in Saudi Arabia.
The conflict between Israel and Palestinians — and other groups in the Middle East — goes back decades. Tempering the language and response, while aimed at preventing a wider war, has had the opposite effect of further emboldening the Houthis, Bowman said. “They’re now finally calling a spade a spade, and saying that, yeah, they’re trying to attack our forces, they’re trying to kill us,” he said. Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah did not fully commit the group to the war in a highly anticipated speech on Friday but said that remains a real possibility depending on what Israel and its Western allies do next.
It reviews the events and trends that have shaped this part of the war, the strategy behind Houthi missile attacks, and how Houthi militants have acquired these weapons. Yahya Saree, a military spokesman for the Houthis, announced on October 31 that the movement launched a “large number” of rockets, ballistic missiles and drones towards Israel. A U.S. Navy warship in the northern Red Sea on Thursday shot down three cruise missiles and several drones launched from Yemen that the Pentagon said might have been headed toward Israel. “Information about these engagements is still being processed and we cannot say for certain what these missiles and drones were targeting but they were launched from Yemen, heading north along the Red Sea, potentially towards targets in Israel,” he added. The USS Carney, which is currently stationed in the Northern Red Sea, successfully intercepted three cruise missiles and several drones that had been launched by Houthi forces in Yemen, according to Air Force Brig. Gen. Patrick Ryder, the Pentagon's press secretary. Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels say their strikes on ships in the Red Sea as in response to Israel's military campaign in Gaza.
The Iranian-backed Yemeni rebel group Ansar Allah, popularly known as the Houthis, may have cruise missiles capable of reaching Israel, US Department of Defense spokesperson Brigadier General Pat Ryder indicated during a 19 October press briefing. The Carney is equipped with various missile defense systems, though the Pentagon hasn't said which system was used to destroy the missiles. Seeking to avoid a regional war with Tehran, the US has not targeted Iran directly, instead going after some of its most powerful proxies in the region. It is an indirect way of trying to send a message to Iran’s leadership, which has grown increasingly nervous about the actions of some of the militant organizations it backs, CNN has reported. Iran funds, arms and supplies these groups to different degrees, but its leadership does not control them directly.
The missiles and drones were launched by pro-Iranian Houthi rebels in Yemen amid a flurry of drone attacks against American troops in Iraq and Syria over the past three days, General Ryder said. The incidents underscored the risks that the conflict between Israel and the Palestinian group Hamas could spiral into a wider war. “We cannot say for certain what these missiles and drones were targeting, but they were launched from Yemen heading north along the Red Sea, potentially towards targets in Israel,” Brig. Gen. Patrick Ryder, the Pentagon spokesman, told reporters. The United States yesterday conducted sea-launched cruise missile strikes against three radar sites on Yemen’s Red Sea coast, Pentagon Press Secretary Peter Cook told reporters in a news briefing today. “The crew of the guided missile destroyer USS Carney , operating in the northern Red Sea earlier today, shot down three land-attack cruise missiles and several drones that were launched by Houthi forces in Yemen,” he said. The Missile War in Yemen is the first comprehensive review of missile and missile defense activity in the ongoing Yemen conflict.
There are fears that the attacks could escalate Israel’s war against Hamas into a wider regional conflict. The U.S. and Britain have launched multiple rounds of airstrikes since the Houthi attacks began targeting Houthi missile depots and launcher sites in Yemen, a country that’s been wracked by conflict since the rebels seized the capital, Sanaa, in 2014. Central Command late Friday confirmed the Marlin Luanda was struck by a single anti-ship ballistic missile fired from Houthi-controlled Yemen. The Carney and other coalition ships responded and were rendering assistance toward the stricken ship. "With tensions spiking in the Middle East, U.S. forces in the region are facing increasing threats as a Navy warship shot down missiles appearing to head toward Israel Thursday and American bases in Iraq and Syria were repeatedly targeted by drone attacks."
In an effort to save money or get the perfect day in port, many people usually book outside of the cruise line, but this was not the case on this cruise. So a little advice, if you plan to book a Celebrity cruise and want a particular excursion, do not wait until you are on the ship; it may be full. These islands are characterized by sweeping vistas, volcanic peaks, and numerous beaches. While there's an outdoor main pool, it's relatively small; significant real estate is given to the calm adults-only Solarium with yet another pool. Launched in 2009, the Solstice-class Celebrity Equinox cruise ship has, for the most part, managed to stay fresh and modern. For some of the best entertainment on Celebrity Equinox, head to the Lawn Club for an extraordinary demonstration of glass-blowing. Cool down with a drink just a few steps away, at the Sunset Bar at the aft of the ship. The Sin City burlesque show and late-night comedy on Deck 4 is another option. For typical cruise entertainment fare, enjoy the twice-nightly acts in Equinox Theatre, that are performed shortly after dinner seatings.

Loungers also line the jogging track on Deck 14, which is a convenient spot to relax if you also want to be close to the buffet and don’t necessarily want to take a dip in the pool. Deck 15 is home to a number of fun, family-friendly amenities, including the Lawn Club, which allows passengers to play games such as bocce or croquet, or just wiggle their toes in the grass. The Hot Glass Studio was one of our favorite activities onboard and a pretty unique experience to have on a cruise ship. It's complimentary for AquaClass passengers; other passengers can buy full-cruise passes for a fee. Also available only to AquaClass guests is a Relaxation Lounge with cushioned daybeds, on Deck 11. Celebrity Equinox is a relaxed ship, with enough activities and shows to stave off boredom but not so much going on that it feels loud or frenetic. During the day, passengers take part in a range of activities -- games against the crew are common -- that often have a trendy spin, such as adult coloring sponsored by Lonely Planet.
Celebrity Equinox Departure Ports
Being on the third deck, I had an excellent view, and I loved sleeping with my curtains open to see the moon; and found it very relaxing to hear the sound of the waves bouncing off the ship. But the price of $75 price per day, including an ocean view cabin, drink package, basic wi-fi, and gratuities, was too great to pass up. Ensemble Lounge is the ideal setting for an aperitif en route to an extraordinary dining experience, or a digestif afterward. Live entertainment from world-class musicians and a “dressed for dinner” crowd make this elegant space a fantastic start or end to your evening. Yes, Celebrity Equinox isn’t the newest ship — but it’s hardly old. For a cruise experience that ticks all of the requisite boxes for a nice time — great dining, lots to do, comfortable staterooms, etc. — Celebrity Equinox delivers.

It’s not tucked away in a corner of the ship but open to the Celebrity Equinox atrium, which means it’s not always quiet. This is more of a place where passengers come to relax rather than to read in absolute solitude. There are multiple drinks packages to choose from, ranging from Premium Packages that include virtually all drinks, to a choice of five non-alcoholic packages. The cruise fare only includes water, tea, coffee and some juices at breakfast, so if you think you might want to enjoy a few drinks per day while on Celebrity Equinox, a drink package is a good idea. For some of the best Celebrity Equinox entertainment, head to the Lawn Club for the Hot Glass Class, given by glass blowing artisans from Hollywood Hot Glass.

One of the things about the Celebrity Equinox that struck us most was the fact that the buffet was on a separate deck from the main pool area. Most other Celebrity ships, and in particular the newer Edge vessels, offer easier access to the buffet, and this layout on Equinox felt rather inconvenient. Celebrity Equinox can accommodate 2,850 passengers and 1,250 crew members for each cruise. There are 19 decks in total, and the ship has a gross tonnage of 121,878 GT, as well as a length of 1,041 feet. Celebrity Suites are more of your traditional suite, with nearly 400 square feet, butler service and a bedroom that’s actually in a separate room from the rest of the living space.
Individual in-cabin babysitting is also available for one or two children 12 months or older. Celebrity Equinox offers a nice mix of drinking destinations, from relaxed bars with spectacular views to energetic places to dance to excellent cocktail options. An LGBTQ social hour is held nightly at the always popular Martini Bar. Celebrity Rox, a dance party out on the pool deck featuring live performances from the cast of the Equinox Theater, is held once per cruise. Bar culture is prevalent on Equinox, and many folks linger with a cocktail in a lounge before or after dinner, around a show or late into the night. Music is performed continually throughout the night at lounges and public spaces across the ship.
As a Solstice-class ship, Equinox is among the most environment-friendly cruise vessels. She saves up to 30% more energy than a typical one due to her equipment of an efficient hull design coated with light-emitting diodes and the photovoltaic system. Equinox staterooms are in different categories including the new cabin types (signature ConciergeClass & AquaClass). The main pool deck (Deck 12) is spacious and offers a few dozen loungers. It’s usually quiet during port days, but it can get crowded on sea days and many passengers end up wandering off to other areas. The Lawn Club, on Deck 15, is particularly popular among passengers due to its relaxed atmosphere and half acre of real grass.
I could not believe my luck when I found an amazing price on Celebrity Equinox on an incredible Southern itinerary.
